Prezi

My audience is for potential employers in a preschool, Head Start, or child care setting. It could also be used for parents and children in these settings to get information about myself and my philosophy in early childhood education. I feel my presentation is really laid back and takes a personal look into my life, as well as being informative which would appeal to these audiences.

The main challenge that I felt with Prezi was that it was not Microsoft power point. I've been equipped to using power point for as long as I can remember so seamlessly navigating and trying to adjust the size on some of the fonts were a little difficult. Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed Prezi, I feel that it offers a different approach to power point but at the same time it offers similar qualities. I like that embedding a video and gathering images was simple and I like the overall dynamics of the site. If you really wanted to get creative and customize something really fancy I think Prezi would be your best bet.

Three Great Teacher Blogs

Teacher Tom's blog is my entire philosophy on early childhood education. He has great ideas, tips, and wonderful pictures of the activities that his children do. The main reason why I love Teacher Tom is because he bases his curriculum around the children's interests and ideas.

Preschool Daze is about a woman who opened a preschool in a nursing home. It's very interesting and she offers many out of the box activities through pictures of her preschoolers. The children have limitless exploration of their environment and it's really child centered.

This blog follows along with the other two on great ideas and following along with the preschool's activities through images. The one thing that I really like is that the blogger focuses on emergent curriculum and is a huge advocate for learning through play. She offers professional development for teachers in the field of early childhood education as well.

Welcome to my Blog

Just as the title suggests ...Welcome!

I'm Katrice.

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and I'm the oldest of seven children. After completing my B.A in English from The Ohio State University, I decided to come to Columbus State Community College to embark on a degree in Early Childhood Education and Development in hopes of opening my own child care center. The reason my interest lies with children is because I feel I have a natural connection with them, I've grown up taking care of children the majority of my life (my mother even had a in home daycare), and of course I believe that children are our future. I believe it's imperative to invest in their future by supporting, loving, guiding, and enhancing their creativity.

In my free time I enjoy painting, photography, reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends when I can. As an educator I would like to create an atmosphere for children to learn through play. I hope to instill free thinking as well as guidance and self competence in each and every one of the children that enter my classroom. I want to challenge the children as well as enliven their imaginations. I would hope for them to be mindful of others and build a wonderful sense of community in the classroom. Most importantly, I want to create opportunities and memories of fun and learning to help them grow into wonderful individuals for the future.
